History
Our story starts way back...
- 1919 - Zonta International was founded
- 1929 - first Australian club established in Sydney
- 1935 - that first club had disappeared
- 1965 - Clubs established in Melbourne, Sydney and Aukland
- 1971 - Clubs in all Australian capital cities and five New Zealand cities
- 1974 - District XVI established covering Australia and New Zealand
- 1990 - District 23 established with clubs in S. A., Vic, and Tas
- 1993 - Zonta Club of Gawler chartered
Zonta has a long history internationally, having begun in 1919. In Australia, the first club was established in Sydney in 1929 but had disbanded by 1935. Zonta really took off in Australia in 1965 and has been growing steadily every since.

The Zonta Club of Gawler began in 1993...
Supported by the Zonta Club of Para District, the Gawler club formed in April 1993 with nearly 30 members.
